Emily Truax is Founder and Director of the Double E Horse Camp, a riding instructor, and an equine photographer. She teaches English novice and intermediate lessons with a hunter/jumper focus. Emily enjoys teaching children and adults of all ages; her current students range in age from 5 years old to 38.
Emily believes that riding should be safe, fun, and challenging. She loves to encourage her students to better themselves, but most of all she loves to build relationships with them - young and old - and to creatively help them reach their goals, whether they involve showing, training, or becoming a better, more well-rounded horseman or woman. For Emily, riding should be about understanding your equine partner better and learning to communicate with him/her clearly, gently and confidently.

Emily began riding lessons at age 6 and got her first horse at age 8. In addition to her lessons, Emily worked for several summers with Lew and Melodie Sterrett at Miracle Mountain Ranch where she received natural horsemanship training. She has completed several John Lyons workshops and has started many two and three-year-old horses as well as working with older horses.
Since 2001, Emily has organized and managed Western and English horse camps, between two and eight weeks in length, throughout North Georgia. She trains her own staff and horses. Over 300 girls have completed her camp curriculum and training; many of them continue to pursue riding, showing, and training on their own and with other instructors in their area. Emily also offers shorter Fall, Spring and Winter Break sessions.

In 2003, Emily developed a magazine, Bit and Bridle, for young horse riders and enthusiasts. Currently edited by Mandee Widrick, Emily still acts as Owner and Founder.
Emily graduated from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee with a degree in Mass Communications and Journalism/Photography, but her first love is and always will be horses.
