Felicitas on Hill Work

Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel is head trainer at First Choice Farm in Woodbine, Maryland. In 2009, she and Tonico do Top, owned by Linda and Joe Denniston, won the PSG Championship at the BLM Finals and the U. S. Dressage Federation's All Breed Andalusian Championship at Intermediare I.  Felicitas began to chronicle her training journey with Tonico, Brazilian-bred at Sucandi, in the August 2010 edition of Dressage Today.

Since arriving from Germany in 1983, Felicitas has trained many horses to Grand Prix. She is an effective and articulate clinician, whose style is sympathetic to the horse. She bases her work on classical methods, as exemplified by the best of the European tradition. During her most recent clinic at High Point, participants and auditors alike benefited immensely from the creative and subtle strategies Felicitas shared with them. All left with a better understanding of how to enhance the flow of their horse's energy from back to front, and front to back again.
Felicitas on Hill Work #2
Along with Gerhard Politz, Michael Poulin, Debbie Bowman and Steffen Peters, she has been a USDF Examiner for the Instructor`s Certification program. In her native country of Germany, Felicitas placed first in class when completing her "Reitlehrer" (federally certified instructor) certification. She also graduated with the highest score ever awarded since the program was upgraded by the German government in 1982.

Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel also edited Reiner Klimke's "Ahlerich: The Making of a Dressage Champion." In 2007 and 2008 issues of Dressage Today, Felicitas explained her philosophy on the importance of hill work for developing "propulsive power" and "carrying power."
